Members of the Association are private sector firms engaged in the business of surveying or a related discipline. All members are required to carry professional indemnity insurance and abide by the Association’s Code of Ethics, Code of Practice and Rules.

The Executive of the Association also acts as the Regional Management Group for the Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA). ASIBA has taken over from the Association of Consulting Surveyors Australia as the national representative for the private sector of the surveying and spatial information industry. ASIBA prepares submissions on a range of public policy issues at the national level and relies on the support of State Regional Management Groups for State based issues.
