NSW Awards for Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information 2008

The SIR THOMAS MITCHELL AWARD will be presented to the most outstanding overall project judged from the seven categories listed below. C R Kennedy Total Surveying Solutions are the proud sponsor of this prestigious award.

  • People & Community - This award recognises those individuals or companies projects, products or programs that contribute to the improvement and amenity of a locality or the environment.
  • Infrastructure & Construction - This award recognises those projects that have contributed to planning, designing, developing construction and/or infrastructure.
  • Extra Dimension - This award recognises how innovative techniques contribute to the economic performance of industry and solve unusual problems.
  • Sustainable Development - This award recognises the skills, knowledge and management used in the fields of civil engineering design, planning and the solving of environmental issues as applied to land development projects.
  • Spatial Information - This award recognises how innovative techniques in surveying, mapping, cartography, design, planning and software development achieve exceptional outcomes.
  • Cadastral Surveying - This award recognises an individual or organisation for the complexities and difficulties encountered in the definition with boundaries and land titling in NSW.
  • Mining Surveying - This award recognises those projects that have been carried out for either coal or metaliferous mining operations that use innovative techniques to achieve the objectives.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

TAFE Student of the Year
Representatives from the TAFE colleges currently conducting Surveying or Mapping courses are invited to identify the top TAFE student from New South Wales to receive the TAFE Student of the Year Award.

University Student Project of the Year
University students resident in New South Wales are invited to submit their final year projects for consideration by the judging panel.

NSW Professional of the Year
Nominations are invited for the NSW Professional of the Year. The nomination should include the contact details of the nominee, the individual nominated, a recent photo of the individual and a brief statement as to their achievements.

Young Professional of the Year
Nominations are invited for the Young Surveyor of the Year. The nomination should include the contact details of the nominee, the individual nominated, a recent photo of the individual and a brief statement as to their achievements. The Young Surveyor of the Year must be under 35 years of age on 1 July 2008.

Journalist of the Year
The NSW Awards for Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information NSW Committee will recognise a journalist who has contributed to the promotion of the profession with one or more articles in local or national media.
