October Conference 2010 - Ballina

The Country Surveyors October conference will be held in Ballina on the 22 & 23 October 2010.

Program & Registration form. The Early Bird special is now closed and not available. There are only 10 conference seats available for the Friday & Saturday day sessions, the Friday dinner has been booked out, sorry to those people who have missed out. There is however still room available for the Saturday BBQ.

Our Keynote speaker is Professor Bruce Thom, President Australian Coastal Society and member of Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists.

This year the Technical Tour and seated dinner will be on Friday with the BBQ on Saturday.

Strata Industry Working Group (SWIG) Update - Online Presentation

Friday 11 June 2010

ACS NSW is represented on the SWIG committee by Peter Vandergraaf a registered surveyor since 1984 and an Accredit Strata Certifier with the Building Professional Board.

Peter has kindly offered his services via Online presentation direct to our members to ensure they are all up to date on issues relating to Strata Titles, documentation and plans that the Land Titles Office currently has as well as getting feedback from you on issues you are experiencing with Strata Plans and lodgments.

This presentation topic will be repeated again later in the financial year.

Know Your Modern Award - Surveying Award 2010 - Completed

Wednesday 2 June 2010 - Club Macquarie, ARGENTON

Australian Federation of Employers & Industries (AFEI) together with ACS NSW has organised an information session on the modern Award specifically focused on Surveyors

All modern Awards became effective on 1 January 2010, for constitutional corporations, and will become effective on 1 January 2011 for unincorporated employers.

Seminar has now passed.

LPI Online Update Seminars

ACS NSW is proud to provide this excellent CPD opportunity especially for its regional members who must keep up to date but are unable to spare the time or expense to attend an event/seminar in the Sydney CBD and surrounding areas.

The feedback received from the LPI update seminar on 11 March 2010 was very positive, we would like to thank all those members who attended. Based on your feedback we will be holding more Online presentations for CPD.

Online Debt Recovery Seminar

After a successful face to face Debt Recovery Seminar ACS NSW in conjunction with Anthony Igra of Contractors Debt Recovery organised our first Online / Telephone seminar.

We would like to thank all those who attended and provided feedback.

In 2010 we will be conducting some more Online seminars to assist our regional members who are unable to make it to the Sydney area or other larger towns where we hold face to face events.

These Online seminars also attract CPD.

After successful LPI breakfast forums throughout regional locations in 2009 we are holding 2 EPA Update breakfast forums in Tamworth on 25 May & Port Macquarie on 26 May 2010.

ACS NSW BOSSI Workshops 2010

Our next BOSSI workshops in Engineering and/or Town Planning is scheduled to commence in June.

Proposed dates for 2010 Program 12 are:

17 or 24 June 2010  Full Day 8.30 am - 5.00 pm

18 or 25 June 2010 Half Day 8.30 am to 12.30 pm

16 or 19 July Full Day 8.30 am to 4.30 pm (This includes a 30 minute mid term examination)

20 or 27 August 2010 1.5 hours only (Final Examination)

OH&S for construction sites
The Association no longer provides general work cover approved training. There are several companies providing courses daily in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Parramatta and etc. Please contact the office if you have trouble finding a program in your area.

OH&S Work Activity Specific Training for Surveyors & Civil Engineers on construction sites

Please note that a previous course that was delivered to Surveyors is no longer required.  As long as you hold a White Card from WorkCover and undertake Work Activity for Site Specific Induction you have complied with the Act and 2007 Regulations.
