Each year, individuals and organisations are presented awards during the EISSI dinner to acknowledge their work within the industry. There are many benefits to participating in the awards process, with the main being that it underlines to potential and current clients an organisation's or individual's professionalism and leadership within the industry.
The categories for these awards are outlined below.
SIR THOMAS MITCHELL AWARD: this award is presented to the most outstanding overall project judged from the seven categories listed below. C R Kennedy are the proud sponsor of this prestigious award.
Infrastructure & Construction: recognises those projects that have contributed to planning, designing, developing construction and/or infrastructure.
Extra Dimension & Innovation: recognises how innovative techniques contribute to the economic performance of industry and solve unusual problems.
Community and Sustainable Environment: recognises those individuals or companies who have undertaken the design of project, developed products or programs that contribute to the improvement and amenity of a locality or the environment.
Rural Cadastral Surveying & Land Titling: recognises an individual’s or organisation’s ability to solve the complexities and overcome the difficulties encountered in the definition of Rural boundaries and the creation of land titling in NSW.
Urban Cadastral Surveying & Land Titling: recognises an individual’s or organisation’s ability to solve the complexities and overcome the difficulties encountered in the definition of Urban boundaries and the creation of land titling in NSW.
Surveying Project Management: recognises the skills, knowledge and techniques used by an individual or organisation to manage an engineering work or other projects to deliver the desired outcomes.
The Grant Kilpatrick TAFE Student of the Year Award: Representatives from the TAFE colleges currently conducting Surveying or Mapping courses are invited to identify the top TAFE student from New South Wales to receive the TAFE Student of the Year Award.
University Student Project of the Year: University students residing in New South Wales are invited to submit their final year projects for consideration by the judging panel.
Professional Surveyor of the Year: Nominations are invited for the NSW Professional of the Year. The nomination should include the contact details of the nominee, the individual nominated, a recent photo of the individual and a brief statement as to their achievements.
Professional Organisation of the Year: Nominations are called for any NSW organisation that provides land surveying services to the community through a consultancy business of public sector agency. Preference will be given to the organisation that is delivering excellence in client services, building an exceptional company culture and involvement in the profession and wider community.
Young Professional Surveyor of the Year: Nominations are invited for the Young Surveyor of the Year. The nomination should include the contact details of the nominee, the individual nominated, a recent photo of the individual and a brief statement as to their achievements. The Young Surveyor of the Year must be under 35 years of age on 1 July 2019.
In 2018, the NSW Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information Awards at the Hyatt Regency Sydney attracted 480 people. This was the twenty first year that the Awards have been held and it has become the major event on the Surveying and Spatial Information calendar. Events such as this are only possible with the support of our sponsors and we extend an invitation to all prospective sponsors to be part of the 2019 EISSI Awards to be held this year on the 7 September at the Hyatt Regency Sydney again.
