In the morning prior to our State Conference, the great session with Andrew Geddes held at Holding Redlich Boardroom with emerging firms and specialised firms.
With the ever-changing world of law and its impact on surveying firms, Consulting Surveyors NSW have joined with Holding Redlich for the 2019 Roadshow: Legal Update.
This roadshow will be taken to six different locations across NSW (Wollongong, Port Macquarie, Penrith, Wagga, Orange and Newcastle), giving surveyors from many regions the opportunity to hear about changes in property law and other legal aspects affecting your business.
On 6th March, 53 female students from 14 high schools around NSW gathered at Hyde Park in Sydney for the inaugural Women in Surveying event, organised by the NSW Surveying Taskforce in collaboration with ACS NSW.
They came to hear Narelle Underwood, Surveyor General NSW, and His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of NSW, present on the Anzac Memorial Project. They experienced some hands-on surveying in Hyde Park and then enjoyed lunch at Daltone House, where industry professionals and educators discussed the surveying profession.
The girls were inspired and their feedback was more than positive. One student from Tamworth commented in a media article that “the day ‘really opened my eyes’ to the possibilities involved in surveying. I hadn't really thought of it as a career option before, but I would definitely like to look into it further now".
The national and regional media was also taken with this event, which was strategically planned for the week of International Women’s Day (Friday 8 March).
The NSW Surveying Taskforce conducted a media campaign to highlight the day - the results of which can be seen in the numerous media articles and interviews below. All of this media exposure helps to build a stronger profile for surveying amongst potential students and parents.
Representatives from many NSW surveying firms volunteered their time to attended the Women in Surveying event and provide much-needed support. Our thanks go to:

This comprehensive one-day training program is ideal for consulting surveyors who need to write proposals to win work. Whether you’re a seasoned proposal writer, or have never written a proposal before, this workshop will give you a better understanding of what makes a winning proposal and how you can contribute to your firm’s success. Robyn Haydon has worked with many firms to ensure they are winning the jobs that matter
The Bank Holiday Financial Management Seminars and Workshops returned in 2018 with Andrew Geddes. A special roundtable event was also held for our Developing, Growing and Leading Members followed by dinner and the opportunity to solve those difficult problems!
During 2018 ACS NSW traveled around the state visiting surveyors in their hometowns. Increasing Efficiencies in Your Business was the theme of this year's Roadshow which visited Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Sydney, Wollongong, Albury and Orange.
A highlight in our calendar each year is this special event at Parliament House. This year we had the privilege of engaging with 8 NSW Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries including the Premier, Gladys Berejiklian who was very open to our questions and listened to our comments.
With the continuing investment in infrastructure around the country we want to ensure that our surveyors are being kept up to date on current best practice. Following this workshop, a working group has met to continue our advocacy to ensure accuracy in surveying of our railway network. Special thanks to Mitch Hanlon for this important initiative and David Brown for his expert advice.
This year we partnered with the Growth Faculty to provide an opportunity for our members to hear some great international speakers.
