There are many ways in which the association benefits NSW surveying organisations:
LOBBY FOR CHANGE
ACS NSW is a strong and effective lobby group – a strong voice heard by all levels of government, advocating the interests of the surveying profession.
STRONG AND EFFECTIVE NETWORK OF RELATIONSHIPS
The Association has close working relationships with numerous industry and government bodies, such as Spatial Services and the Office of the Surveyor-General, Land Registry Services (LRS), Office of the Registrar General (ORG), Universities and TAFE NSW. These open communication lines with these organisations assist with progression of the profession, and the resolution of any issues faced by the industry.
ACS NSW also has proactive board members governing the organisation, who are committed to building strong relationships with government and industry bodies to ensure the issues and concerns of the profession are addressed.
PROMOTION OF MEMBERS
There are many ways in which the association promotes its member organisations to the general public and other industries. A free referral service is available on the home page of this website at FIND A SURVEYOR and a members’ handbook is widely distributed to local government bodies, and other professional networks – such as the legal and architectural industries.
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS SUPPORT
A free advice service is offered to all members regarding all industrial relations issues. Up-to-date information is provided on changes to awards, taxation issues, workers compensation, OHS issues, insurance and other legislation matters relating to the surveying industry.
Member organisations can contact the office with any particular industrial relations issue applicable to their workplace, to obtain speedy and appropriate advice from an independent industrial relations association.
Seminars, workshops and conferences organised by the association provide the opportunity for members to obtain essential professional points. Membership in 2020/21 includes one free webinar for every staff member. ACS provides a monthly webinar series between February and November on the second Friday of every month.
ONLINE PROPERTY SEARCH FACILITY RUN FOR THE PROFESSION
The Association runs AusSearch, a comprehensive and flexible national online property search facility. All profits are returned directly to the profession, with AusSearch supporting numerous industry seminars and events. Go to the AusSearch page to find out more.
ACS NSW is strongly linked to ACSIS Limited which provides professional indemnity insurance for the surveying and spatial information industries.
RANGE OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY INFORMATION
Through the ACS NSW website, quarterly newsletter, member and tender alert emails, a range of pertinent and significant information about the industry and running a surveying business in NSW is provided to members. Information includes exclusive tools and industry survey information, such as a Fee Estimation Tool and Hourly Rate and Salary surveys – all useful information for surveying organisations.
MEMBER USE OF THE ACS NSW OFFICE
ACS NSW has a centrally located office that provides a base for members visiting the Sydney CBD.
