Outstanding Surveying companies take out top honours at Awards

The professionalism of Australia’s surveying industry was on show at the Surveying Consultancy Excellence Awards 2018, which took place in Sydney on the evening of Thursday 22 March.  Held during the Surveying 2018 National Congress, these awards were established to recognise the contribution of surveying consultancies across the nation.

To acknowledge the efforts of consulting firms of all sizes, the awards were broken into small and large categories based on organizational size.

Taking out the prize in the Large Consultancy category was
Taylors. Based in Victoria and with offices in Brisbane, Christchurch and Jakarta, Taylors is a multi-disciplinary development solutions consultancy. It provides a host of services including Master Planning and Urban Design, Surveying, GIS, Civil Engineering, Development Strategy and Project Management.

This organization has been involved in a number of large-scale, high-profile projects including the management of all surveying services for the Australia Grand Prix held last weekend in Melbourne.

The judging panel for the awards were impressed by the way Taylors demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development, which ultimately results in high level of service delivery.  It was also noted that Taylors’ dedication to fostering a spirit of community engagement is to be highly commended, with this company undertaking surveying and engineering aid work in Fiji over a number of years.

Receiving the award on behalf of Taylors were Director and CEO, Richard Cirillo, and General Manager – Urban Development Survey, Leo Bateman.  Thanking the numerous team members across their offices, Mr Cirillo said that ‘We are expanding our business but the focus will always remain on the highest level of service delivery and team member development.  We enjoy developing our younger team members and providing opportunities for them to learn and engage with the broarder surveying community’.

Proud joint winners in the Small Consultancy Category were from New South Wales. Tuggerah-based Trehy Ingold Neate and Resource Design & Management from Coffs Harbour.

Both long-standing companies with a number of major projects in their portfolios, these two multi-disciplinary organisations demonstrated a sophisticated level of commitment to quality service delivery, development of staff, health and safety, training and business planning.

Gerry Shone, President of Consulting Surveyors National and part of the judging panel for the awards, commented that ‘The calibre of all entrants in this category was high but Resource Design & Management and Trehy Ingold Neate stood out as the clear winners.’
Mr. Shone also noted that ‘The judging panel were impressed by the way in which the management teams in both organisations were dedicated to personal and company development, implementing extensive business management systems which ensure quality outcomes for the client.’
